During summer 2016, I was one of the lucky few to have funding for an original project with CURS (Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship) at BGSU. After my trip to Puerto Rico with the ART+BIO Collaborative program (check out my previous blog posts 😀 ), I decided I’d take what I learned back to Bowling Green and was inspired to do my Biology/Art Collaboration project with the BGSU Herpetarium. After 3 months and a lot of trial and error, I was able to redesign and update the Herpetarium’s website and create 3 designs for promotional, illustrative trading cards. The goal of my project was to promote the BGSU Herpetarium, establish better communication, increase public outreach and education, and encourage interaction between artists and scientists. So far, I’d say it has been a success! 🙂
I learned so much from this project, and I had fun developing my skills in web design, illustration, and design work for interpretive materials that I will be carrying into my future. For those who are interested, I will be including my process work with a few summaries of what I did over the course of a few blog posts. Check back soon!
